Brief
Traverse Journeys, an Austin-based bespoke travel and sustainable tourism company, approached me with a very interesting opportunity and challenge. They needed to create promotional photographs and video of one of their premiere trips to Costa Rica. The tricky part was that they had next to no budget for the project.

Approach
We put our heads together to see what could be done. As I personally have a great deal of interest in travel and sustainable / eco-tourism, I knew I wanted to help in any way I could. After discussing what could realistically be done within scope, we roughed out our game plan. We'd travel fast-and-light, with very minimal gear, favoring ease and simplicity over time intensive setups with audio and lighting.

Results
I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the video portion of the project. We ended up shooting all of the video using an iPhone 11 Pro on a simple gimbal stabilizer...and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The HDR and incredibly quick focusing made capturing a wide variety of footage quite easy. When we wrapped the project, Traverse ended up with a large repository of imagery and footage they could use to promote their various trips to Costa Rica...and I ended up going on a wonderful and memorable trip.
